Yonkers Force JV Crushes Nyack Redhawks JV with a Commanding 26-8 Victory!
The Force heads into this matchup determined to prove that last Thursday’s loss to Nyack, where they were outscored in every quarter, was just a minor setback. Yonkers fell to Nyack by a score of 30-8, but they’re ready to leave that behind and refocus.
On a more positive note, the Yonkers Force JV team had a stellar performance earlier in the week, defeating Nyack JV 26-8 on Tuesday. It was a high-scoring, dominant effort and a bit of redemption after the varsity squad’s tough outing. The Force JV’s defensive line deserves much of the credit, as they didn’t allow a single first down or touchdown in the first three quarters. Standout player #1 Garrison Brown continued to shine, recovering an onside kick and following it up with several long rushes. Quarterback #7 Brendan Mulvihill contributed over 80 rushing yards, while wide receiver #6 Omar Areche connected with Brown for a 50-yard touchdown to seal the victory late in the 4th quarter.
The Yonkers Force JV team now sits at 2-2, with their next challenge being Ramapo JV. Meanwhile, the varsity squad’s defeat dropped their record to 3-3. Ramapo’s recent win ended a six-game losing streak at home, improving their record to 2-3.
Saturday’s game is shaping up to be a battle of the ground game. Yonkers Force has excelled in rushing this season, averaging 178.4 yards per game. However, Ramapo isn’t far behind, with an average of 207.2 rushing yards. With both teams relying heavily on their ground attacks, expect a hard-fought contest in the trenches.
The last time these two teams met, in November 2021, the Force came out on top with a 28-14 victory. They’ll look to repeat that success this weekend.
