Yonkers Force JV Dominates Mount Vernon in Electrifying Home Opener
The Yonkers Force JV football team made a thunderous statement in their season opener, demolishing the Mount Vernon Knights 44-12 in front of an energetic home crowd at Roosevelt High School. This was more than just a win—it was a showcase of explosive talent, grit, and teamwork that has the entire Yonkers community buzzing about what’s to come this season.
Quarterback #7 Branden Mulvihill was a force to be reckoned with, commanding the offense with precision and poise. His ability to keep the defense guessing with a balanced attack was nothing short of masterful. Not only did he tear up the field with his legs, slicing through defenders for big gains on the ground, but he also showcased his arm, delivering a pair of laser-like touchdown passes to his go-to target, Wide Receiver #1 Garrison Brown. Brown was the definition of clutch, showing off his speed, hands, and football IQ on both sides of the ball.
Brown’s impact wasn’t just felt on offense—he was everywhere. In a jaw-dropping display of determination and hustle, he forced a critical fumble and then immediately pounced on it to shift momentum. But the most mind-blowing moment of the game came on special teams, where he executed one of the rarest feats in football: recovering his own onside kick! The crowd roared as he seemed to be in the right place at the right time all game long, proving himself as a game-changer for the Force.
If that wasn’t enough to get the fans on their feet, the highlight of the day was a trick play straight out of the playbook’s deepest page. In a screen pass to Wide Receiver #6 Omar Areche, sold the run to perfection, and then uncorked a beauty of a pass downfield to—you guessed it—Garrison Brown, who was streaking toward the end zone. Brown made the grab, leaving the Mount Vernon defense in the dust as he bolted for a breathtaking 70-yard touchdown. The stadium erupted in cheers, and the Knights had no answer for the Force’s creativity and execution.
While the offense was on fire, the Yonkers Force defense was rock-solid, locking down the Mount Vernon offense and keeping them in check for most of the game. The Knights managed to put up 12 points, but it was far too little, too late, as the Force defense stood tall, applying pressure and forcing mistakes. This was a complete team effort, and every player stepped up to ensure victory.
When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard read 44-12, and the Yonkers Force JV team celebrated their first win of the season. It was a huge statement against a formidable opponent, and this performance has set the tone for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.
The action doesn’t stop here! Next up, the Yonkers Force JV will face off against Nyack High School on Tuesday, October 15th at 4:30 PM, once again at Roosevelt High School.
