Yonkers Force: City Champs Again!
In an electrifying crosstown showdown for the 7th Annual City Championship, the Yonkers Force continued their dominance by claiming their fifth consecutive title, defeating their rivals, the Yonkers Brave, with a thrilling 26-19 victory. This marks the second consecutive game where the Force triumphed by exactly seven points, cementing their undefeated start to the season at 2-0 and solidifying their status as the premier football team in the city.
Quarterback #7 Nazir Fields was unstoppable, putting on a clinic both through the air and on the ground. Fields rushed for a staggering 162 yards on just 13 carries, tearing through the defense with explosive runs. He wasn’t done there—Fields also showcased his arm, throwing for 113 yards and two touchdowns, connecting on 72.7% of his passes.
Special teams made a huge impact as well, with #1 Joshua Testamark shining on kickoff returns. Testamark racked up 80 kickoff return yards, averaging an impressive 20 yards per return, giving the Force consistently strong field position. Wide Receiver #18 Chris Diaz made his mark with his first touchdown of the season, while #3 Bryant Easley played the hero, securing a game-sealing interception in the end zone late in the fourth quarter to shut down any hopes of a Brave comeback.
Yonkers Force’s victory continues their dominance over their rivals, the Brave, after beating them in their last matchup as well. With this latest City Championship win, the Force now holds an incredible five-year streak as the reigning champions. The win pushes their season record to 2-0, while the Brave drop to 2-1
Looking ahead, both teams will need their home crowds’ energy in their next battles. Yonkers Force will face Ossining at home at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, eager to break a four-game losing streak on their home turf that dates back to last season. Meanwhile, Yonkers Brave will regroup and prepare to take on Ramapo at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, hungry for redemption.
