Yonkers Force Falls to Ossining 18-6

The Yonkers Force varsity football team faced a challenging match against Ossining this past weekend, falling 18-6 in a hard-fought battle. From the start, Ossining took control of the game, jumping to an early lead with an aggressive offensive push. Despite a determined effort from the Force, they struggled to find their rhythm, leaving them playing catch-up throughout the contest.

The game took a turn at halftime when starting quarterback #7 Nazir Fields was forced to leave the game due to a minor injury. Fields had been a key part of the Force’s game plan, but after sustaining the injury, he was unable to return for the second half. In stepped backup quarterback #19 Justin Vavrica, who faced the daunting task of leading the team in a difficult situation.

Vavrica took on the challenge with grit and determination, showing impressive poise under pressure. While the offense struggled to find consistency early in the second half, Vavrica and the team began to settle in during the final quarter. Late in the 4th quarter, Vavrica rallied the team, leading a determined drive down the field that resulted in Yonkers’ only touchdown of the game. His leadership and composure under difficult circumstances were a bright spot in an otherwise tough day for the Force.

Ossining, however, continued to maintain control of the game. Their defense proved difficult to crack, and despite a few opportunities, the Force was unable to capitalize on key moments that could have shifted momentum. The 18-6 final score reflected the team’s uphill battle, but it also underscored the heart and determination of the players who continued to fight until the final whistle.
